Château de la Tour has long been the property of a single family. It has been passed down from father to daughters, then to sons, on numerous occasions.
Today, François and Edouard Labet manage the estate.
As the largest owner in Clos Vougeot with 5.5 hectares, the wines of Château de la Tour are the only ones to be harvested, vinified, aged, and bottled within the walls of the Clos, just as in the past, during the time of the monks.
With organic viticulture since 1992, a biodynamic shift initiated in 2015, and winemaking without sulfur or additives, our priority today is to continue these practices inherited from our ancestors, in order to preserve the heritage and value what has been passed down to us, while looking towards the future and the challenges ahead.
In the vineyard, we apply our own herbal teas produced on the estate and align our work with lunar cycles. In winemaking and in the cellar, our approach is very non-interventionist, to best express the quintessence of the fruit. We work with a percentage of whole cluster fermentation that varies according to the vintage and the cuvée. This practice has been an integral part of our estate’s DNA since 1987. It is the backbone of our cuvées.
