TRAPET

Gevrey-Chambertin

Today, the Burgundian vineyards of Domaine Trapet cover 15 hectares, including 13.5 hectares of Pinot Noir and 1.5 hectares of Chardonnay. The estate perpetuates ancestral expertise, heartfully crafting wines that reflect the richness and complexity of their original terroir. From the first buds to the harvest, the winemaker treats the grapes with gentleness and respect. The clusters are meticulously sorted and delicately crushed, then vatting is carried out by gravity, thus preserving all their quality.

Maintaining the tradition from father to son for five generations, and managed since 1995 by Jean-Louis Trapet, the estate is a benchmark in Burgundy. Jean-Louis subsequently married the Alsatian winemaker Andrée Grayer. Domaine Trapet Père et Fils expanded in 2002 when Andrée decided to continue her parents’ work. She inherited a 2-hectare vineyard estate in Riquewihr, Alsace, which she has since developed and nurtured with passion. The couple decided to work hand in hand to tend to their vines, sometimes driving for hours to spray the vineyards with a natural preparation on a date they deemed favorable.

The vines of Domaine Trapet Père et Fils have been vinified according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture since 1995, earning the Demeter and Biodyvin labels. Indeed, the harvest is manual, and each cluster is treated with respect, both in the vineyards and in the cellar. These choices made by Jean-Louis Trapet offer a remarkable purity of expression and aromatic richness. The aging potential of his wines exceeds 20 years for renowned vintages, such as 2015, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2005, and 2002. These are upright and pure wines that require time to reach their peak.
